Time to think again… if you want to grow your business to its full potential or take it to the next level you will need to find that time because you need to invest time in every aspect of your business if you want it to succeed and grow.
“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps” – Confucius
You launched your business because you wanted to work on your own terms and the hours that suited your lifestyle to give you back that great work-life balance that was missing when you were an employee.
What a great feeling when your hard work pays off and your business not only meets your expectations but exceeds them. The downside is you never have enough hours in the day or days in the week to get everything done.
The dilemma you face daily is that you don’t want to turn work away but you are unable to cope with the ongoing administration side of your business.
The problem here, the catch twenty-two you find yourself in is that the amount of work you need to do will keep growing and soon that small pile of work you are pushing aside will become a mountain you don’t want to climb.
You want to hire a VA and outsource this tiresome and at times annoying drain on your valuable time but you don’t have time to train someone or show them the ropes to explain what you would like them to do or how to do it.
You don’t have to struggle, you are becoming a martyr to your business, your work-life balance is certainly out of sync and you really must take a moment and make the time to assess your next move… your future self will thank you for it.
“Don’t count the things you do, do the things that count” – Zig Ziglar
Think of it this way, you spend an hour to brief and train your VA on various tasks, the tasks themselves take approximately 5 hours a week to complete. You have now saved yourself 20 hours a month (that’s 240 hours a year!) by investing 1 hour of your time.
- Top Tip… to help manage your training and handover time more efficiently, download a screen recording software app and record your screen whilst doing the tasks you would like to outsource and when you’re ready to hire your VA, simply give them a copy of the recordings along with the work you need them to do.
Another question or worry you may have is how to find or choose a VA.
Maybe one of your business contacts already have a VA or maybe they can recommend a VA that specialises in your field of expertise.
Social media sites such as LinkedIn are a great place to find a VA and you will also have access to view their career history and this may also include testimonials from previous employers and clients.
- Myth buster… Not all VA’s are the same or offer the same services, each has their own unique skill set. Whatever task you need assistance with, there will be a VA out there for your needs.
It’s important to build a good relationship with anyone you work with, take time to choose your VA, build a relationship with them and very soon you will find your perfect match.
